‘Outsider’ Bernie Sanders only candidate to show up at ‘insider’ White House Correspondents Dinner

Only one presidential candidate — the anti-establishment Bernie Sanders — showed up to rub shoulders with the Washington elite and other celebrities at the White House Correspondents Dinner.

The Vermont senator accepted an invitation from CBS News to attend Sunday’s black-tie event, where he was photographed with CNN’s Wolf Blitzer and Donna Brazile.
Sanders did not join other guests in wearing a tuxedo, but instead wore a black suit and striped tie.
Comedian Larry Wilmore, the host of Comedy Central’s “Nightly Show,” hosted the event — which has been jokingly described as “nerd prom.”

President Barack Obama has joked the event is “a night when Washington celebrates itself,” and journalists and media celebrities join Hollywood stars and partisan pundits.

The other candidates — Hillary Clinton, Donald Trump and Ted Cruz — declined to attend the event.

Trump’s son, Donald Trump Jr., attended with his wife, as well as Trump supporter and “Apprentice” star Omarosa Manigault, and “Keeping Up with the Kardashians” star Kendall Jenner was also photographed on the red carpet.

Bill Nye “The Science Guy” and actor Morgan Freeman were also at the event.
